Fantasy Island Maui’s Kapalua Resort offers a golf experience worth dreaming about

Nestled among the lush foliage of rolling hills and a beautiful beachfront, in the midst of a century-old pineapple plantation, the Kapalua Resort on Maui offers two award-winning golf courses and an opportunity to experience the spectacular beauty and welcoming culture of the Hawaiian Islands.

Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the Plantation Course was built around the natural wonders of the West Maui Mountains and is reputed to be the best golf course in Hawaii.  Its wide, undefined fairways provide awe-inspiring views of the Pacific, but consistently blowing trade winds and natural elevation changes provide unique challenges for golfers. Steep downhill holes that play toward the ocean are prime examples that illustrate why the Plantation Course was ranked as the number one most difficult set of greens to putt on the PGA Tour.

Winding its way through towering palms and flowering hibiscus on 6,600 yards of gently rolling fairways, the Bay Course blends leisure with a bit of a challenge.  Designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane, the Bay Course’s stunning, uninterrupted views will have you reaching for your camera as just as often as your irons.  This course’s signature hole is the 5th tee shot, which requires a precise shot over the glistening Oneloa Bay and the crashing Pacific surf below.

After a day on the links, relax at one of the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua’s pools or famous white-sand beaches and dine at one of six fine restaurants serving locally sourced seafood and produce.  Feeling adventurous? The resort offers guided hikes through an environmentally protected rainforest which is home to rare plants and a sanctuary for endangered birds and snorkeling among Maui’s beautiful coral reefs as part of their partnership with Jean-Michael Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment program.

Great golf, a luxurious resort and intoxicating views—this is about as good as it gets.
